What is Public Relations?

Chapter 1 in Public Relations: Strategies and Tactics states;

“Public Relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies and procedures of an individual or an organization with the public interest, and plans and executes a program of action to earn public understanding and patience.”

Public Relations combines the events of Research, Action, Communications, and Evaluation and works in a continuous cycle.

A public is a targeted group that PR agents direct their writing, which differs greatly from journalism. It seeks to persuade when journalists objective is to inform objectively.
